In this startling sequel to the critically acclaimed thriller Killing Matt Cooper , Killing Sam Knight finds its eponymous antihero in his most dangerous spot yet: Happiness. Feeling secure in his relationship with FBI Supervisory Special Agent Kathleen Underwood, the two decide to commit murder together. But when things go wrong, the hunters become the hunted, and they find themselves being chased by a vicious killer who flays his victims alive -- and, like Knight, this killer just wants to be loved...

My Thoughts:

When we left off in Killing Matt Cooper. Sam Knight made a desperate move to keep the love of his life by his side A bit longer knowing the possibility of getting caught.

In Killing Sam Knight we pick up about 4 months later. Sam and Kathleen are closer than ever and in love! As they continue  working on a new case they quickly discover  theres a new killer in town however, as the case unfolds they learn theres a whole lot more to this one than they expected.

John Cassian definitely knows how to keep his readers on the edge of their seats.
First of all we finally learn Sam knights true identity, as we've known him to go by several alias', we tap into his past an bit and also learn some events of his child hood along with how he came by killing.

"I used to tell myself that I would really be in trouble if I was't horny. Horniness was the only part of me that seemed normal."

I literally couldn't put this book down! i'm happy to say there isn't  a major Cliffy in the end as there was in the first book. but Mr. Cassian has definitely left plenty of room for more of this story... I look forward to what ever hes got coming... lets just hope we don't have to wait another yr.. hint hint

Donna's Thoughts:

“. . . am I a unique and beautiful snowflake all my own?”

Holy crap! John Cassian is one dark, twisted amazing author!! When I read his first book Killing Matt Cooper, I was a bit unsure at first, but by the end I was floored. After finishing book two, I am speechless, absolutely speechless. This is an amazing book and Mr. Cassian is a gifted author. I look forward to reading more of his works.

“Evolution was trying to stamp me out because I liked to swim in the black pool of my own darkness.”

An FBI agent in love with the serial killer she is assigned to capture, it’s almost laughable but John Cassian makes it believable. We learn so much about the main character in this book and what attracted Kathleen to him “There was something…pure about you. Something juvenile, but pure and single-minded and real. You seemed like such a normal guy, such a hard-working, misunderstood everyman, but with this…dark underbelly.” This book is full of OMG, WTF,  I did NOT see that coming moments and NOOOOO moments that I stayed up all night just to finish it. All I can say now is Mr. Cassian HURRY UP and release Killing Miss Underwood! Before I’m tempted to do something rash. I HIGHLY recommend this book and I believe I have a favorite new author.  I give this book 5++ stars.

About the Author:

When John Cassian wrote his first novel, KILLING MATT COOPER, he didn't realize at the time that the story would grow in the telling. He has since published its sequel KILLING SAM KNIGHT, and is currently writing the third book in the series, KILLING MISS UNDERWOOD. Cassian counts Bret Easton Ellis, Thomas Harris, Jeff Lindsay and Jim Thompson among his strongest influences. He is a big rock 'n' roll fan, and is particularly fond of The Pixies, Radiohead and The Beatles. He lives in California alone, and likes to play guitar and draw pictures in his free time.
