Stained by Ella James

Title: Stained
Author: Ella James
Series: Stained #1
Genre: Paranormal
Buy Links: Goodreads Amazon
Rating: ☆☆☆.☆

Synopsis:

After a fire destroys seventeen-year-old Julia’s home and kills her foster parents, she chases the half-demon responsible across the country and back, determined to avenge her family and discover why a host of celestial baddies want her dead. With Julia is enigmatic hottie - Cayne, who has his own score to settle with the half-demon, and who might be just as dangerous as the creature he and Julia hunt.

 Donna's Thoughts:

Julia is a seventeen year old foster child who has always felt a little different. That feeling is confirmed the night the only people she’s called family are killed in a house fire. Julia is different, she is Stained and she is about to find out something is out to kill her too.

Cayne has lived a long life, but he is unable to remember most of it. What he does know is that he is determined to kill Samyaza. One night while trying to accomplish just that, he ends up saving a young girl’s life. He wasn’t looking for a traveling companion, but he has one now.

This story is an interesting combination of good versus evil and boy meets girl. I like the characters; Julia is a strong female which is always nice to see. She is not sure what is happening or what she is, but she wants to find out. She follows her instincts and doesn’t take no for an answer. Cayne is the hot hunk of a supernatural sort. I like his character; he’s going through a personal struggle to figure himself out, but still takes the time to help Julia. He’s battling his natural instincts over what he deems right. I am interested to see what happens in the next part of their story. I give this book 3.5 stars.

I want to protect her, but I could wind up destroying us both.

**Part two of the filthy, seductive new serial** **Rated 17+ for explicit content, spanking, and dirty talk.**

Sas' thoughts:

Vaughns feelings for Keely has flown in the no fly zone and hes having a hard time getting out of it. But as pieces of her past start putting themselves together he makes a decision that will change both there lives.

Lots of questions got answered but by the end I was left asking a few more.. But the main question i think everyone still wants the answer to is who highered Vaughn?... Of course i have an idea.. I just need confirmation

This series has it all.. and then some... But Vaughn is the dirty man I love to dream about both in the day and at night.

But when one desperate mistake nearly costs Eleanor everything, it is Søren who steps in to save her. She vows to repay him with complete obedience…and a whole world opens before her as he reveals to her his deepest secrets.

Danger can be managed—pain, welcomed. Everything is about to begin.

Sas' Thoughts:

After finding Kingley's son Nico, he is interested in learning more about the father he never knew, and hearing the story of how Nora and his father came by meeting. But in order to tell that story she has to start from the beginning.

Father Soren Sterns is probably the only priest on this earth i'll ever want to share my bed with.
I refuse to believe he's is a fictional character.. That's just a fact i'm having a hard time excepting! He is just so perfect even from the very beginning!

"Love and do what you will. If you keep silent, keep silent by love, if you speak, speak by love, if you correct, correct by love, if you pardon, pardon by love- let love be rooted in you, and from the root nothing but good can grow"

Tiffany Reisz has a way of telling a story that even after you're done days sometimes months later your still feeling the effects of it. She is truly the mind fuck queen and i can't wait to read The King in December!!

Excerpt

“No, that's not what I meant,” he says. “Look at me.” He holds my wrist firmly in his grip, waiting for me to stop fighting his hold and make eye contact with him. This just isn't happening to me. “Sarah, look at me,” he says again, and at the sound of my name leaving his lips I turn and look. I see scorching gold eyes burning right into mine. Intense emotions drain out of his eyes and pour into mine. “I didn't kiss you because I felt sorry for you. I kissed you because I haven't stopped thinking about kissing you since I first saw you on the street. Then the second chance I got after you walked into my office all bent out of hell to drive me insane. I haven’t slept a good fuckin’ night since I slammed my mouth on yours two weeks ago. What I'm sorry about is that I took advantage of you in a vulnerable moment. It was wrong of me.

Catarina's Thoughts:

J.D Hollyfield has a hit with her debut novel Life in A Rut, Not including Love. I found this book full of wit and I laughed throughout. You can easily relate to Sarah Sullivan in a lot of ways.
Sarah is in a rut her perfect world has burst around her and she just doesn't want to exist. That is until she meets Jack the gorgeous Construction Worker who is working on her parents extension to their house.

Sarah and Jack don't get off on a good start but love has a funny way of cropping up when least expected and before you know it they are sizzling and hot. You will find yourself laughing throughout the book and find it every easy to read. I read it in 24 hours.
I fell in love with Sarah's Aunt Raines and I wish she was my Aunt. I found her to be such a support and always knew how to solve a problem. "Vermonth" sound like a wonderful drink to help with forgetting life.
I felt a kindred spirit with this book because I know Life in a rut personally, not including love. Some of us have been there.
I rate this book 5 stars and look forward to reading J.D. Hollyfield's next book.

Legends run rampant around town about crazy Blythe Fountain, who discovered her beau hanging from the oak tree in the family's front yard. A short time later, two of her friends mysteriously disappeared, never to be seen, or heard from again.

Eighty years later, Ariel Fountain has inherited the property, and after catching her boyfriend cheating on her, decides she needs a change of scenery and runs headlong to a place shrouded in superstition and family mysteries which may be better off left unsolved.

Ariel sets out with the help of a local man, Grady, to uncover the truth behind the hanging and the girls' disappearances. What Ariel discovers is a secret so horrific she wishes she would have left it buried."

Donnas Thoughts

Ariel Fountain is twenty-three years old. She just graduated college and is getting ready to move in with her high school sweetheart. Ariel hasn’t had an easy life. She was raised by her grandparents after her mother, father and baby brother were killed in a fire when she was three. Life has a way of shifting directions in an instant. Ariel’s journey is about to get interesting.

OH MY . . . . WOW. This book is something else. I can’t say too much because I refuse to spoil the experience for anyone. I will say that the book is written from a number of characters points of view and I love when authors do that. It gives me a better understanding of the circumstances surrounding the plot. This story also goes back and forth between past and present which is wonderful and heart breaking. Also, Lori L. Clark really shows her writing skills in this book, just incredible. The story flowed; it picked me up and took me on a ride I never wanted to end. I have mixed feeling about the ending but I think that’s just because I didn’t really want the story to end. I would have liked more, but at the same time, I understand the reasons for it ending the way it did. I HIGHLY recommend this book and give it 5 stars!!

 Excerpt 1

Pulling his hood down over his face in the shadow, the keen hunter watched with rapacious eyes, the predatory animal in him taking over as his prey hovered over the open dumpster. With a quick look around and blonde curls jiggling, the little mite dove into the giant trash for something, probably a snack since the pixies did like to eat at this time of night. Now time to earn his keep.

He stood up silently and prowled forward to peer over the edge of the bin. His prey, oblivious to his presence, nibbled on a discarded French fry with great gusto. With a swoop, the net came down, the low whistle of its flight not enough warning. With a scoop and a flick, he trapped the pixie within its silken threads. The little creature went into panic mode, its little body thrashing and twisting inside the net, its squeaky words coming so fast they were incomprehensible.

“Enough!” snapped Elliot, almost immediately feeling contrite. He’d have fought, too, if someone had trapped him like a bug.

The pixie settled down and peered up at him with big jewel-like eyes, the reproach in them making the hunter uncomfortable.
“Don’t look at me like that. You know you’re not allowed to cross the border.” The pixie’s eyes glistened. Elliot felt guilt poking him hard. After all, he happened to love greasy fries and burgers too and he could understand the temptation.

“Don’t do that,” he said, sighing. Why do I feel like such a bully?
Squashing his guilt, he reminded himself of the job at hand. “You know you’ve got to go back.” Pulling out a small jar with holes in the lid, he lifted the net up and showed it to the pixie.
 Teaser 1
"What’s this?" asked Rea, holding up a wrench he'd pilfered from the toolbox.

"A wrench, it's for tightening things."
"What’s this?" Rea asked again, holding up something Kellie had never seen.

"It’s called a level which is made so things aren't tilting."

And on it went, he even let the kids help him tighten bolts, guiding their hands to turn the wrench and getting them to hand him tools as he worked. The kids had taken to him like a fish to water, and Kellie watched, amazed. They didn't even squabble once, a miracle in its own right.

Kellie knew she should be getting more done, but found herself mesmerized into watching him, instead. Like a new breed of animal she'd never seen, she studied him, trying to understand what made him tick, but she watched him all morning and came no closer to understanding him.

 Trailer

 Teaser 2

She couldn't deny his wonderful work ethics. Like a busy little ant, he went through the house diligently. Kellie made him the list he asked for and by the end of the afternoon, he'd tackled it all and even fixed some things she hadn't even noticed. Like the handle on her dresser drawer; it had to be her underwear one, of course. He'd just casually dumped it on the bed. Her waist high granny panties, all in the exciting color of white, poured out.

Okay, so she shopped for comfort instead of sexy. It wasn't like anyone usually saw them, but talk about embarrassing. After he'd fixed the drawer she dived onto the bed to put them back, the thought of him handing her underwear somehow too intimate for her to handle.

He'd of course just grinned, a cocky smile that he liked to use a lot and made her insides turn upside down each time he did.

 Excerpt 2

After all, wasn't every day that a total hottie almost landed in her lap wearing low-hipped track pants and no shirt to hide the flattest stomach and most deliciously muscled arms ever? However, that's all she'd be doing--looking. No touching, definitely no touching. But God, those clear, bright blue eyes and sun streaked, golden tousled hair almost made her change her mind.

"Sorry if we bothered you," she said. "We've been cleaning all morning, and the twins needed to let off some steam."

"It is I who must apologize for the irregular behavior. I assure you that it will not be happening again," he said, shrugging sheepishly.
Rea tugged on her hand so she looked down.

"Is he a powceman, mommy?" he said in a loud whisper that sprayed from his lips.

Good question. Kellie looked at the stranger. Good looks aside, why had he dived into their yard with a gun?

"No, I'm not a policeman. Although, I do work with them occasionally, I'm an oddity investigator or maybe easier to be known as a missing persons investigator," he answered.

Kellie's eyes widened and in spite of her vow to stay celibate, her libido woke up and yawned with interest. Go back to sleep, she told her awakening body. I swore off men, remember?

Catarina's Thoughts:

The Hunter's Realm is a book full of adventure and magic, I have read very few book of this genre and at first I struggled, but after getting past the first few chapters I was transported to another world and could put the book down.

This book is not only a love story between Elliott a Realm hunter and Kellie his neighbour who has twins with special powers, but also an adventure with battles and mystery.

I found myself bottling a long side Elliott as he fraught for the ones he loved.

You will fell Kellie's fears, and her pain. You will see how people will meddle and try and keep the Elliott and Kellie apart. This book shows you that true love will always concur, will always be stronger and if you believe in that love nothing will tear it apart.

The supporting characters all had a roll in this wonderful book . I gave it a 4 1/5 stars

About the Author

A little about me is I am a person who loves life and living in the moment. I have found a deep passion in my life in writing romance and erotica novels as much as I enjoy reading them too. I started writing as a hobby and since have been inspired to publish what I have. My heroines are always strong women that can stand up for themselves.

My favorite genre to write is Paranormal, but I am delving into other genres as well. My passion is to express how I feel and see romance, sex, and creatures of the unknown come alive on the pages of my books. Immortal highlanders, witches, vampires, Lycans, warlocks and many more, some of my work is inspired by daydreaming , but mostly by a wild imagination.  I am now exploring, Contemporary, Fantasy, Historical and Western Romance, as well as Erotica. I am also thinking of doing a few YA books too.

My first book was published on May 7, 2012, ever since Blood Ties (Wicked Blood Series #1) hit the shelves it has been great and a dream come true. Taking the characters that are in my head and bringing life to them is accelerating. I am staying very busy these days as I am working on three more books for this year. One is another in the Wicked Blood Series and another from my Marshal’s Series and a final one with my Co-Author J.L.Raven.

Coming June 20,2014 I will be releasing another novel, this is a fantasy romance entitled, “The Hunter’s Realm” published by BookRhythm.

I could not have gotten this far without the Lord's help and several friends and family.

1)  What is your favorite line/scene from your series and why?

I don’t really have a favorite. But, this scene really stands out to me. I am just…. in love with it. I feel it really portrays that feeling of first falling in love—the uncertainty of it all, the butterflies, the mystery, the passion and heat. This is from the third book in the Saving Angels series, Lotus Blossom Lane.

A soft lullaby of a tune started to play. The sound of it made Eliska feel as if she was enclosed in a music box. It was a solo on the piano, but it was so whimsical and captivating, tears slid down Eliska’s cheeks. The music moved her. She watched as the dancers moved closer, falling into a beautiful tempo, their strides becoming slow and lighter. She titled her head, closed one eye, and used her pointer finger to make circles above their heads, as if she was the one twirling them.

A heavy thump knocked her off balance, but before she stumbled, an arm reached out and saved her. The arm belonged to a him. He steadied her with a secure but tender embrace. She was almost afraid to look at him, afraid of who it could be. After a few moments of standing the way they were, her looking away, him waiting for her to look at him, she finally moved her eyes.

His face was partially hidden behind a mask. It made him look as though his face had been seared in half. It was black, cream, and gold, with fancy scrolls and music notes painted across, making his blue eyes glow bright with concern.

When her eyes met his, he dropped his hold, nodding to her. She acknowledged the stranger’s silent apology by nodding back.

He held out his arm to the dance floor, wordlessly asking her to dance with him. She was terrified, but she nodded yes. He made no move to take her hand or guide her; he just watched her as he walked backward, never wanting to remove his eyes from hers. Then he stumbled over another dancer, falling to the floor.

He couldn’t see her face, but something about her had knocked the wind from his lungs. This is why he hadn’t spoken a word to her.

Eliska had to hide the amusement in her eyes by blinking rapidly. She looked away, giving him a minute to recover, to gain his bearings. Their eyes met again, and a wide grin had set on his face; he didn’t take himself too seriously.

In his opinion, there was nothing he could do to redeem himself. He had, in a moment that was supposed to be completely swept away by romance, made a fool of himself. He was trying to impress her by walking backwards. Instead, he wobbled over his own flattery.

Eliska didn’t think an ounce less of him. She just wanted to dance. She had never danced before, not with anyone other than Hagatha. And she was entranced by the easy sound. In the same fashion the children were rapt by the Pied Piper’s magical pipe, she was pipered by the tinkling, by the gentleness of the rhythm and the mysteriousness of the musical rhyme.

They met on the dance floor, attempting to stay clear of the other dancers as they continued their steady beats around them. They stared a moment at each other before Eliska gave him her hand. He took it, and then he glided her around the floor. He was easy on his feet, sweeping her off of hers.

As he twirled her, she felt as though she was ballooning away to the faraway lands she had hidden in. She closed her eyes, allowing him to carry her, even though she was steady on her feet. The faint light of the burning candles flickered in the darkness of her hooded eyes, almost like the meteorite shower against the sky.

He watched her with curiosity and wonder. He had never danced with a woman who closed her eyes. It was intimate to stare into the eyes of another, but he felt this was more so. It was as though they were kissing for the first time, but there was a hundred miles of separation between her lips and his. His hand trembled around hers; he was besieged by something wild, something unadulterated and pure, but not as innocent as a friendly stroll around the dance floor. Alive between the two heartbeats, the contradiction of love pounded in its most concentrated form.

He whirled her once more, than dipped her body back. And she flowed with him, easily relaxing into his embrace. When he guided her back to him, this time he pulled her a little closer, moved a little slower, savoring the moments.

As the last remnants of the song played, the twirling stopped. Eliska opened her eyes to see him staring at her, while a woman in a satin black gown stared at him from underneath her mask. Even so, he continued the dance while the woman watched on, her eyes as sharp as steal arrows. When the song was over, he bowed to Eliska and smiled.

He watched her walk away, never moving from the spot where their dance had ended. The woman in black interceded, claiming what she so clearly wanted. Him.

There should only ever be one him in a woman’s life, Eliska thought as she proceeded to get lost in the thick crowd of guests. The high of the dance was still surging, and she closed her eyes, basking in the afterglow, retreating back to the honeyed spaces in her mind. Knowing now how the true transcendental felt, she vowed to always remember. This, she thought, is how people who are suffering get by. On just one memory. One memory as great as this one can sustain them for the rest of their days. She smiled, a true genuine smile, as she relived the short moments in his arms. He made her feel like she was flying.

2) Which came first: the story, the characters, or the setting?

The characters. They tell the stories. I am just the scribe. The characters are to me, like the melody to the song. I hear the melody before the lyrics come forward, and together they create something beautiful.

3) You were just given a yacht. What would you name it?

Mama Roux.

4) If you had to be a flower, which one would you be and why?

The Café Au Lait Dahlia. It is beautiful beyond words. The color. The

shape. It’s gorgeous, but not in the ordinary way.

5) What is the best vacation you have had?

Gatlinburg, Tennessee/ Nashville, Tennessee. I absolutely love it there. It is peaceful, but there’s so much to do! And Los Angeles, California. We met up with family there once, and we had the time of our lives! We did so many crazy- fun things. One of the things that stands out the most—hanging out with a bunch of Twilight fans who were waiting for the New Moon premiere! It was unforgettable!

6) What is the wallpaper on your computer?

One of my favorites. The lion. Roaar!

7) You are planning the most awesome dinner party of your life. Which 3 celebrities/historical figures (past or present) would you add to your guest list to keep the dinner talk interesting?

Betty White, Jim Croce (if he was still alive), and Elizabeth Gilbert. Maybe Bonnie & Clyde, too.

8) Do you have anything specific you want to say to your readers?

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your support is immeasurable to me. I appreciate every review, every kind word, every email and message. I feel blessed to have met so many beautiful people along this journey; it’s just been unbelievable. I know I mentioned this above, but I feel it is worth mentioning again. Thank you!

Donna's Review:

Devils Game by Joanna Wylde

Title : Devil’s Game
Author: Joanna Wylde
Series: Reapers MC
Genre: Romance
Buy Links: Amazon Goodreads
Rating: ★★★★★

Synopsis:

Liam “Hunter” Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil’s Jack, he knows his duty. He’ll defend his club from their oldest enemies—the Reapers—using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers’ president has a daughter who’s alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her.

Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club’s president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger—a man who isn't afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn't afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he’s The One.

Or so she thinks.

Donna's Thoughts:

“’Next time I’ll rip your dick off,” she muttered, eyes narrowing. Okay, so round two was definitely out for now. Noted.”

Liam (Hunter) Blake is a product of the foster care system where he never knew love or security. He survived because he’s a survivor and he did what he had to do to make it. His last foster home cemented his future with the Devil’s Jacks.

“’Do you think Princess Emmy’s got a bike?” he asked me, an unholy gleam in his eyes. “No idea.” “You better find out. You’ll look cute riding bitch.”’

Emmy Hayes grew up in the Reapers Motorcycle Club being the oldest daughter of the president. Life wasn’t always easy for a young girl, like the day half the club drove her to her first day of high school, but she was always safe. The down side to being a daughter in the MC world, she’s still a virgin at twenty two. The bikers tend to chase off any and all suitors and since dad’s the president, none of the members will go near her.

“I think my womb clenched. Or something did. If it wasn’t my womb, I had a very confused appendix.”

OMG!! I LOVE this woman’s work, Joanna Wylde is an INCREDIBLE author and her stories come to life for me. Her characters are real with multiple layers, emotions, struggles and come from a variety of backgrounds. This book overlaps the last one so the reader sees some past situations from a different point of view. I personally love reading different points of view, so this was a HUGE plus for me. Also reading this story from both Emmy’s and Liam’s points of view made it more enjoyable to me. Differing points of view gives me a better understanding of the story and adds so much more to my understanding of the characters and situations. Well I really could go on and on about this book, this series and this author. Instead, I will just say READ THIS BOOK but read Reapers Property and Reapers Legacy first! This is definitely a 5 star book with 5 hands down the pants. Joanna Wylde is my queen of MC books!!

“This love shit sucked.”

That First Kiss by J.C. Valentine

His finger stroked the inside of her thigh, seeking higher ground as his thoughts rolled forward. Piper’s eyes trained on his face, hanging on his every word. “I didn’t intend for things to get as heated as they did, but as soon as I touched you, I needed more. I couldn’t help myself. You possessed me.”
The glazed look in her eye told him that she was remembering that night as vividly as he was. Placing both hands on the cushions on either side of her body, he hemmed her in, bringing their faces so close that when he spoke, his lips grazed hers. “The way you danced that night, pushing that sweet little ass of yours against me. It’s haunted me, Piper,” he whispered.  “You need to understand, I tried to resist you, just like I have been trying to resist you, but you drive me crazy. When I’m with you, it takes everything in me to stay away. All I think about, all I dream about is burying myself inside you.”
Piper licked her lips and Tate zeroed in on the tiny movement. “I want to suck those plump lips into my mouth,” he murmured. Shifting, he brought his knee up so it rested on the couch alongside hers and hovered over her. Her face was flushed and her chest rose and fell heavily. She wasn’t unaffected.
“You need to leave,” she said weakly.
Tate chose that moment to drop his head into the crook of her neck, nuzzling her. She smelled faintly of roses, and his cock jumped at her soft, feminine scent. “Do you want me to leave?” he asked softly.
He could feel her softening beneath him, her breath coming out in shudders as he skimmed his lips lightly up her neck to her ear, where he licked the pulse beating rapidly beneath her sensitive skin. “Yes.”
The single word left her on a stilted breath, only solidifying his need to get inside her. “I don’t think you do,” he murmured. With sure hands, Tate grabbed the backs of her thighs and yanked her toward him, seating her firmly beneath him on her back with her legs spread wide.
