~ EXCERPT ~

Thoughts of my dad, school, and my future start to roll through my head. He expects me to take over for him at his company one day, and I guess, until now, I took it for granted. I knew I had a job as soon as I graduated college, so I didn’t give a shit when it came to my courses. Dad, unfortunately, suddenly decided to find his father gene and told me he wasn’t giving me a job just because I was his son. Apparently I have to earn it now. I don’t know when he changed his mind, deciding to actually parent for once since my mom died, but apparently having a son with a 2.0 college average was enough to make him care.

I try to push the thoughts from my mind and count the number of days I have left in this town. Too damn many, I tell myself. Drinking a little more of the lemonade, I realize I’m getting a little bit too warm. The water looks cool and inviting, and since no one’s here, I decide I might as well take a dip. Stripping down to my boxers, I look around and then laugh at myself. It’s at least ten p.m. and I’m alone. There’s no one here to see me naked, so instead of getting my boxers wet, I slide them off, putting my clothes in a pile by the tree. Entering the water, I’m instantly chilled, but it feels good on my skin. I’m not exactly used to lake water, and I’m a little freaked out about what’s lying beneath, but I man the fuck up and enjoy it. Lost in a back float, I stare up at the moon, wondering what the hell I’m doing here, feeling more alone than ever. Out of nowhere, I hear a small splash, causing me to jerk out of position.

I look around and can’t see anything until my eyes adjust. Lowering myself into the water, I only allow the top of my head, from the nose up, to be visible. All of a sudden, I see her. I can barely make out her figure, but I know it’s Cheyenne. She’s standing on the edge of the lake throwing stones in, and at first I think she’s trying to skip them. After watching her, I realize she looks angry and she’s taking her anger out on the water. I’m trying my hardest not to move so she doesn’t see me, but then something slimy slithers across my foot, and I can’t help the pussy-like yelp that comes out of my mouth. I see her stiffen and then look out into the water, eyes scanning the lake, trying to figure out where the sound came from.

I think I’m in the clear until I hear her. “I can see you out there, ya know. The moon is nature’s nightlight, city boy,” she says, a teasing tone in her voice.

Moving closer to shore, I stop when water is at hip level. I study her, and she looks like she’s been crying.

"What’s wrong?” I ask, unable to help myself.

“What makes you think something’s wrong?” she retorts, crossing her arms.

I instantly notice the way her breasts push up, and I can see the hard nipples through her tight t-shirt. My cock stirs to life, and it’s in that moment that I remember I’m completely naked in the water. Fuck.

“Well, for the second time today, I caught you crying. Either you’re just really emotional or you’re having a pretty damn bad day.”

“It’s my birthday,” she says, catching me off guard.

“It’s your birthday and you’ve found yourself at an old man’s lake in the middle of nowhere twice?” I ask, wondering why in the hell she’s not with family, friends, or even a boyfriend.

She shrugs and sits down in the sand. Dammit, she’s apparently not going anywhere soon. I might as well become a prune as I wait it out in the water, not wanting to freak her out by walking out naked.

“No one to celebrate with,” she says simply, looking off in the distance, and if I weren’t naked right now, I’d be joining her on the shore, trying to salvage whatever’s left of her day. I’m not sure why I care, but I guess it’s probably because I understand loneliness more than most people.

“Then you came to the right place. I’m no expert at backwoods birthdays, but I am pretty damn good company,” I tell her, and a light bulbs turns on in my brain. Gesturing towards the tree, I point at the thermos. “First things first. Go and get some of Wyatt’s lemonade. You’ve got to have whiskey on your birthday.”

As she starts to move towards the tree, I quickly swim to the shore, hoping to get out when her back’s turned. All is clear, and I don’t hesitate to cup my dick as I get out of the water. Before I can get to the tree line, she turns around and stops when she spots me, her eyes wide. Holding up my hands, I back away slowly, not realizing I’ve just exposed myself. It isn’t until I see her looking down that I notice I’m on full display for her.

“Umm, pretty girl, eyes up here. It’s not like you’ve never seen a dick before,” I joke, trying to keep it light.

“I…well, I mean, I haven’t,” she says, her eyes not meeting mine. “At least not in person.”

Book Title: What’s Left of Us
Author: Amanda Maxlyn

The heartwarming conclusion to What's Left of Me.
Love found me three years ago.
I’m cancer free, happily married to the love of my life, and working toward my dream career.
Our life is complete. Perfect, really.
Or is it?
I’ve always wanted a family of my own, but never dreamed I could have one. Now Parker’s ready to make my dream our reality.
But sometimes our dreams are haunted by our deepest fears. Fears of failure, having a child, and in our case … death. How do I help the person I love get over his fear when I’m still trying to overcome that same fear myself?
Together we must learn What’s Left of Us.

Donna's Thoughts:
“Living a life based on fear isn’t living at all.”
Last time we saw Parker and Aundrea, Aundrea has gotten some bad news which sent Parker into a state of fear. He began having nightmares of her dying. Despite that fear, he asked her to marry him anyway. It must be true love! This book picks up a year after their wedding, and the beginning chapter was enough to make me run for cover, but I love Amanda, so I pushed myself forward.
“Why does everything I do have to come with a constant reminder of my past, even at a happy time like this?”
Amanda Maxlyn has such a way with words, it’s unbelievable. Her stories are so raw and honest, I feel like I am living these situations right along with the characters. This story is absolutely beautiful! Parker and Aundrea both are haunted by fear, fear of her dying. Parker wants forever with Aundrea. He wants the house, the kids, the whole package. Aundrea wants that too, but her greatest fear is that she will leave those she loves, not getting to spend forever with them. Can either come to terms with the fact that Aundrea could die young, but so could anyone of us? As they face their fears, they have to ask “what’s left of us?” This story is a beautiful conclusion to these two strong, courageous and amazing characters. I want a Parker. He’s not just an amazing man; he’s sexy as all hell!

I give this book 5 stars with 3.5 hands down the pants.
“God isn’t here, honey. It’s just you and me.” “Parker.” “That’s it. Say it again.” “Parker.”

Life works in mysterious ways.

Four years ago I became known as the girl with cancer.
I refuse to cry.
And I refuse to give in.
A relationship with a man is the last thing I’m looking for right now, but one night with Parker changes everything. He is persistent, and he knows what he wants. Me.
He doesn’t treat me like I’m fragile.
But he doesn’t know, and I’m not ready to tell him.
What if it changes everything?
Tragedy found me when I was seventeen.
Love found me when I was twenty-one.
My name is Aundrea McCall, and this is my journey.

I am the mother of two little boys, married to the love of my life, and living in one of the smallest towns in Minnesota. When I’m not chasing or cleaning up after my boys (yes, all three), I can be found writing or snuggled up with my kindle, a glass of wine, and spending time with my fictional friends and family.
I am first and foremost an avid reader! I love to read anything romance from paranormal, young/new adult, contemporary, and even yes, (wide eyes) erotic/BDSM.

Aiden's POV

“Hey Ya” by Outkast began playing over the stereo. Becca started doing a sexy wiggle without thinking, so I led her to where her friend had pushed the furniture aside to make room for dancing. “Toni hates new music. She only listens to stuff from the 90’s and early 2000’s,” Becca whispered. The tequila made her voice become husky and was going to trash the rest of my self-control.

I grabbed her waist and pulled her body tight against mine. My hips started to sway us back and forth. Her upper body turned and undulated across my chest and stomach. Her tiny hands slid across my chest and around my neck. I could tell she was slender looking at her, but holding her I realized her clothes were hiding a fantastic body. She had soft curves, but she also had tight muscles pulling while she danced.

I looked into her jade green eyes. She was really very pretty. All peaches and cream skin surrounded by dark red hair. I’m sure girls have a different name for the color, dark red softened by tones of brown. It was so thick and soft. I love long hair on girls, and hers fell most of the way down her back.
I might be a bastard, but my resistance was slipping. I leaned in and gently nibbled the tender skin of her neck. I felt her try to suppress a moan. I took my right hand from her waist and buried it in the hair at the back of her neck and went in for a kiss.

Catarina's Thoughts:

You know a book is going to be good if you can't put it down. Self Destruct is just that, when you first start reading it, you think it a beautiful love story with love at first sight and a happy ever after, but as you keep reading you find its more, than just a romance. It has drama, kidnapping and crazy mothers, plots that you could never imagine could exist.

Aiden and Becca remain strong and in love through out never faltering, never letting anything stop them from being with each other. Both are broken from their pasts but together hey learn to heal each other, and rely on each other. Nothing matters to them, not money or status, because apart they would die with out each other.

K.D. Carrillo has managed to create a book about love at first sight that can last a lifetime, where everything that possibly could go wrong is thrown at these to but they gain strength and fight the battles to concur. It is true love can concur all.

I rate this book 5 stars.

COVER REVEAL: In The Mix By Jacquelyn Ayres

Book: In The Mix
Author: Jacquelyn Ayres
Genre: erotic romance/humor

Synopsis

* This book contains the GEGs! For those of you who don't understand that warning: GEGs= strong language. gut-busting LOL moments caused by best friends who check their maturity at the door when they're together, and impromptu Kegel exercises. This book does not come with batteries.
Though it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series in order since all books will have a continuation of EVERYONE'S story. Enjoy! ***
CiCi O’Brien has a weapon of mass destruction—her mouth. It’s always loaded and ready to strike, whether the situation calls for laughter or a professional smart a$$. It’s been her strongest suit against unwanted feelings, especially over the past fifteen years. If she acts like she doesn’t care, then she won’t, right?
Yeah . . . keep telling yourself that, Ceese!
Luckily for CiCi, she’s surrounded by friends and family, who can easily see through her façade. They (and the fur balls she takes care of at work) are the ones who enrich her life daily. And they have been the only ones she’s needed in her life. That is, until the day, her life changed, when she grabbed it by the balls.
No, seriously . . . she grabbed him by the balls. Not kidding. Nope. Keep reading.
Kyle Cooper has it all. He’s smart, handsome, and a Ninja (not really, but that’s what Mitch likes to call him). Being Vice President of Colton Technologies, he travels around the world, bringing companies the latest innovations in automobile technology. At home, he’s a force to be reckoned with, always hanging out with his parents and sister or . . . working.
Oh.
Kyle Cooper does not have it all. He knows this and is ready to change it. He just doesn’t know where to begin. That is, until CiCi O’Brien walks into his office and grabs this bull by the . . . horns (wink). A spark has been ignited in both of them. Kyle embraces it. CiCi does everything, short of calling the fire department, to put it out. Who will prevail? And what will that truly mean to the person who does?
Author Bio

I am a domestic engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young, impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine), and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work this magic from the beautiful state of New Hampshire.
Before becoming a domestic goddess (not really), I spent over a decade in the medical field, where I wore more hats than the Queen.
I have loved the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn't reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures.
Finding myself again through my writing in The Lost & Found Series, The One, and The GEG Series has been nothing short of a dream come true. Also, it makes people feel better when I laugh randomly or talk to myself, knowing it's my characters and not "the voices" . . . that would be creepy.
