Title: It's About Time
Series: Time Series #2.5
Author: B.A. Dillon
Genre: M/M novella
Release Date: September 2, 2015
Marriage.
A civil, social and legal institution under which two consenting adults establish a life-long relationship based on love and commitment.
Scott Wilson and Brandon Lawrence want what all their friends have – marriage, kids, and a dream kitchen in the biggest house they can afford.
The only thing stopping them – the state of Florida.
But sweeping change is on the horizon, and their story only delivers fairytale endings and happily ever afters. What the world can learn from Scott and Brandon’s story is that living in harmony is always better than living with hostility. That acceptance of people’s differences is always easier than dissension, and that love always triumphs over hate.

Chapter Two – Marry Me

“I love you,” I whisper feeling tears wanting to escape my eyes. “I’m so jealous of all of them, and I feel like the world’s worst friend because I’m thinking that way. I love Emma to death, and I’m so happy she found Luke and has a second chance at love. But with Shane and Katie expecting a baby and the romance that Mia and Isaac think they’re hiding from the world, I just feel cheated. When do we get our happily ever after?” As soon as it’s all out, I feel like shit for saying anything. Gay marriage is legal in almost half the country now, but still not here. My state still bans me from legally binding my life with Brandon. I want marriage and kids and a mortgage we can’t afford. I’m a traditionalist . . . but I’m gay. And in Florida that means I can’t marry the love of my life.

“Scott,” he pauses covering my lips with his. One long kiss that invades my brain completely chases away my sour mood. “I’m already living my happily ever after with you. We’ve made a life together, a perfect life. But I’ll jump a plane to Massachusetts tomorrow if that’s what it takes to make you happy. In my heart, we’re already joined forever. I love you.”

I’m so caught up in the moment, I have no thoughts other than him . . . me . . . marriage. The moment is perfect. Grabbing Brandon’s hand I pull him with me as I race to the water’s edge. The sun has set, but the night sky is crystal clear and blanketed with twinkling lights from thousands of stars. The moon is full and blends shadows with the darkness that creates a mood so rich with romance I truly want to get married right here – right now. I don’t care that Sierra is waiting for me in the Fiesta Rentals parking lot, wondering if I shanghaied the picnic table and 100 tiki torches. I don’t care that I’m about to lower to one knee in my very new and very expensive Tommy Bahama linen pants. The salty ocean water is surely going to destroy my new Sperrys, but I don’t care. I don’t care that Brandon is trying to hurry me along. When did he become the responsible guy and we transition roles? All I know is that I want that promise. His promise of forever. When I kneel in front of him, he smiles large and laughs as I express momentary concern over the demise of my new linen pants and brand new Sperrys.

“Brandon Lawrence, I love you. And I want to make all your dreams come true. I want marriage and kids and a dream kitchen in the biggest house we can afford. As soon as it’s legal in Florida, will you marry me?”

“Do you realize what you’ve just done to your shoes, Scott? I mean, we’re wearing brand new $160 Sperrys, man!” Dropping to the sand with me, I’m treated to a kiss that rocks my world. “And, of course I’ll marry you. We don’t have to wait for Florida, Scott. I meant what I said. I’ll get on a plane tomorrow if that’s what it takes to convince you. I want to grow old with you. I want you to believe we’ll have all that and more.”
BA Dillon is a devoted wife and mother of two grown children, and a dedicated middle school teacher. Writing has always been an outlet for Dillon as she believes words are both powerful and magical. Marigny Street
(Saving Angels Series #1)
 Annie Rose Welch

Genre: Romance

Synopsis

Do you believe in the power of dreams?

Way down south on Marigny Street in the heart of New Orleans, the land of Catholic intercessions, purgatory, and supernatural superstitions, young Evangeline Chenier dreams of a radiant boy who saves her from a storm. She takes the dream seriously – in her family, dreams are sometimes more than dreams. Sometimes they foretell the future. Sometimes they create it.

Years later, Eva is no longer the same wistful girl but a hardened woman who no longer believes in dreams. Losing faith in her gift, she becomes lost in a nightmare of emotion, mourning her son, separating from her husband, and stewing in a dead-end job. And then fate brings her an unlikely surprise: one of the most famous movie stars in the world, Gabriel Roberts.

Caught by something in his eyes, Eva agrees to show him the real Big Easy on his last night in New Orleans—an evening that turns into four dreamy days spent recapturing lost faith and discovering a love neither expected. Realizing Gabriel is the boy from her childhood dream, Eva must leave everything behind—her husband, her family, her history, and the beautiful city she calls home—and gamble it all for the dream that has saved her on MARIGNY STREET.

Excerpt

I shook my head. “Tell me, Gabriel, what are your dreams about?”
“Nothing.  I never dream.”  He shrugged.
“Never?”
“I’ve never once in my life had a dream.  And I never look in a mirror – or I try my hardest not to anyway.”
“Why?”  How could you never dream?  Or look in a mirror?
He sighed.  “I believe the only things in this life that can truly show your reflection are the things you love the most in this world.  And I don’t love myself enough to want to look in the mirror.”  He laughed.  “But when I look at you I can see myself perfectly.  And even though I never dream, I do pray.  Do you want to know what I prayed for before I met you?”
I nodded.
“I prayed for an angel – to save me.  I asked for a little help from up above, and now you’re here.  You are cake and ice cream; sugar and spice, and everything nice.  And when you smile, you make me feel the way the world looks when the sun shines through a foggy day.”
All I could do was smile.

Reviews

"This is a story that sings the particular otherworldly song that is the melange of New Orleans, with a character in Eva that is particularly well developed and easy to like. Gabriel is a breath of otherworldly fresh air, tangible in his emotional connection to Eva. New Orleans becomes a character to fall in love with as well: you will walk the streets with Eva and feel the city through her eyes, incorporating her memories."

"That's the other thing about Eva. She was real. All the characters were real. The weather was real. New Orleans was a character herself. The story was alive to me. It was as if I lived the story as I read. There was a very surprising twist that wasn't expected and still has me reeling."

"This book enchanted me from the quotes at the beginning. It is honestly a beautiful story. It pulls you in to a really quite magical place, yes, it's incredibly soppy (for my tastes) but it's undeniably beautiful."

Author Bio

Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty- one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California). Her writing career began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightening bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn't stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm.

When she's not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection.
Deciding on a whim to hitch up those same wagons, Annie currently resides in Texas (where everything is bigger) with her husband, daughter, and their two peculiar dogs, Boudreaux and Tabasco (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).

Humor....
I look in the mirror one last time, noticing my hair is longer on top than it is on the sides. The gel I use to style it makes it look messy and black instead of dark brown. With my black boots, I stand at six-foot-three, and having spent an hour at the gym every night after school, I finally have great definition. I’m stage ready. I walk out on stage with my guitar strung around my neck, pick in hand, waiting for the nerves to consume me. But they don’t. Why? Because I’m a damn legend; that’s why. The stadium is sold out, and the crowd is going wild. “Hello, New Jersey!” I hold the mic out for the crowd’s roar, and they give me exactly what I want. “I am Memphis Black, lead singer and guitarist extraordinaire for—” Fuck, I hate this part. What the hell is the band’s name? “Black Hawks,” my sister Madison whispers. “The Black Hawks!” I yell to the crowd. “That name is so lame.” I hear my sister’s friend Tally giggle. “You two, out.” “No, you said, if we videotaped this, you would—” “Out!” “Come on, it’s our first dance. We need to learn how!” Madison stomps her foot. “Well, you didn’t hold up your end of the deal, now did you?” I lift the guitar strap over my head. “Come on, please,” Madison says with huge eyes. “Yeah, please,” Tally joins her. I consider telling them to fuck off, but they would tell Mom. I consider a simple no, but they’d tell her that, too. Therefore, I choose the safest answer. “Fine. But you both have to shut the hell up.” Tally covers her mouth, looking horrified. The girl is a train wreck in epic, adolescent proportion. She has kinky brown curls and a ribbon always wrapped around her head. Freckles bridge her nose and dot her face, and she always wears cartoon character T-shirts. Today, it’s Care Bears. “What now, Tales?” I huff. “You said—” “Hell?” I laugh. She giggles again. “Yeah, you did.” “You know what? I think the both of you should just stay home. All freshman girls do at a dance is stand in a corner, giggle, and look like dweebs.” I look at my sister. “Mads, if a boy asks you to dance, you’ll start laughing and snorting.” Next, I point at her friend. “Tall, you’ll get some big-ass grin.” I roll my eyes when she covers her mouth again. The little girl can’t handle a curse word to save her life. “Just keep smiling and laughing, and they’ll think there’s something wrong up in those crazy heads of yours. Besides, you’re both in that—I don’t know—the awkward stage: braces, boobs just budding …” Tally covers her mouth again, while Madison starts to get really pissed off. “I mean, look at that hair. Mads, you’re so used to wearing a ball cap you have permanent hat head. And you—” I can’t resist taking one more shot at Tally—“how the hell are you gonna get a comb through that kinky mess before Saturday?” That’s when Madison finally screams for Mom. Tally just looks at me like that cat from the cartoon, the one with the big, green guy. Shrek? Yeah, Shrek. Puss, Puss in Boots. That’s what her face looks like. Looking back at her, I almost feel kind of bad for giving them a hard time. Mom comes in then and gives me the third degree. She tells me, “Girls are sensitive when they’re going through changes,” and that I should ‘be more thoughtful.’ Finally, I can’t take it anymore. “Okay, Mom, fine. I will buy into their little girl fantasies about that girl with the blue dress, the one with the mice that turn into horses—” “Cinderella.” In spite of herself, my mom laughs. “Yeah, her.” Her face goes from amused to suspicious. “What exactly are they doing in your room, anyway?” “They were supposed to be taping my performance.” I try not to smile as she gives me that look. I know exactly what she’s about to say: that my rock star fantasies are just as lame as some dumb fairytale with talking mice. “It’s not the same thing, Mom. This is my dream, something I can actually make into a career one day.” “I know, Memphis.” She pats my back, smiling. “But maybe their dream is to dance.”   Some more.....   “Damn, check out that little peach,” River says when he meets up with us, running his hands back and forth through his hair, ridding it of some of the Atlantic. He points to a chick laid out on a beach towel, all oiled up, top already undone, and she is turning around to lie on her back. “Oh, fuck no.” I almost laugh as we get past her, heading for the volleyball net. “Sascrotch,” Finn mumbles under his breath. We all bust up laughing. “She’s hot and all, but who the fuck doesn’t look in the mirror and see they need a fucking trim before—” “That’s more than a trim, man; that would require a bush hog,” I laugh. “She’s a moped,” River chimes in. “I’d ride the hell out of her for fun, but I sure as fuck wouldn’t want any one of you to see me on her.” “Hair grows there for a reason,” Billy says. “So does facial hair, man, but you trim that shit so you don’t look like a mountain man.”
Heart
“One day, your father caught me watching you and said, ‘Do you know what happens to sinners, young man?’ I told him no, I didn’t. I was a kid! He looks at me and says, ‘They burn in hell.’ “I fucking laughed in his face. Hell, he preached God’s love and was pegging me at ten years old as a sinner. He didn’t think that shit was funny. I wasn’t thinking about banging you back then, Tales. I was fucking ten. “He told me, ‘If you have sexual desires for her, you best get down on your knees and pray, young man.’” Memphis shakes his head. “I had no clue what he was talking about. Sex was far from my mind. I was into Legos or some other shit my old man bought, promising he’d spend time doing it with me and then bailing."
And... HEAT
“You looking for a fight? ’Cause you’ve got one,” Ricky snaps. Finn steps between them. “Walk, man, while you can.” Memphis looks at me. “If we’re gonna be playing around for the next couple of days, it’s one on one, you feel me?” “I was just dancing.” I blush and look to see if Mads is watching this. She’s not; she’s dancing with River and Billy. “That wasn’t dancing, Tallia. That was fucking foreplay,” he says, stepping into my space as “Teacher” by Nick Jonas starts. He then takes my hands and puts them on his hips. “Your little hands go here, not on his, feel me?” I nod as he places his hands over mine and drags them up under his shirt as his hips start swaying to the music. As Nick’s voice booms “Oh my, oh my, oh my God” over the speakers, Memphis’s hips circle while he moves down slowly until he is hip level with my hands on his shoulders. I close my eyes and start swaying as his hands run up the back of my thighs and stop right below my butt. Then he lifts the hem of my tank top with his nose and runs it across my stomach before I feel his tongue against my skin. My knees weaken, and I clutch his incredibly strong shoulders while he continues to lick, kiss, and graze his teeth across my now exposed flesh. He senses it and places a kiss on my hip as he slowly kisses up my side and then turns me so my back is against his body. He takes my hands in his and runs them up my body as he sings, “So let me teach ya,” in my ear, sending chills all over my body. My hands now rub up my front and over my chest, and he groans in my ear. “So let me teach ya,” he sings again, my hands now behind his neck. “Hold tight; don’t let go,” he commands against my neck. “Rock with me.”
He sways, and I follow his lead as his hands grip my hips and pull me toward his hard body. And his body is hard everywhere.

Synopsis
An eye for an eye…
My name is Archer Black, and I have a confession.
For as long as I can remember, my life has revolved around getting revenge against Senator Thomas Wharton.
It was supposed to be easy. Uncover his secrets. End his political career. Ruin his Presidential campaign. Use his stepdaughter, Langley Mayer, to do it. She’s also my stepsister, but she doesn’t know that. Nobody does.
But nothing is as easy as it seems. When my high-stakes plan for revenge takes a deadly turn, I’m the only person standing between Langley and the people who want her dead. Time is running out, and I need to decide what I need more: love or revenge.

Prologue
Ashton

I lifted the remote off my desk, and pressed the back button and then play. An interview with Senator Thomas Wharton replayed for the tenth time on my TV screen.
“Have you decided whether you’ll run for president next year?” the blonde with too much makeup and a condescending smile asked.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to say yes or no to that question before the end of the year,” Senator Wharton answered. His bright white veneers shined like he was on a shoot for a toothpaste commercial instead of sitting down for a Monday morning television interview.
“So three months? Why the delay?” the woman said, pressing for information when anybody with ten brain cells knew he’d never give her the real answer. Politicians offered platitudes, not truths, and that reality was especially true of Senator Wharton.
“Right now, I’m going to focus on midterm elections, writing legislation that helps the middle-class, and celebrating the holidays with my beautiful family. Then, when the New Year rolls around, I intend to take the pulse of the country, my constituents, and my family, and make a final decision.”
I pressed the pause button, staring at the flickering image of the man I had hated since I turned five years old.
“It’s time to act. There’s no way that man will occupy the Oval Office while I still have breath in my lungs,” I said, turning to my best friend and half-brother, Knox.
We grew up in the same shitty trailer on a desolate bluff in Arizona plagued by monsoon winds. We endured a childhood under the nonexistent supervision of the same alcoholic mom with self-destructive tendencies miles long. We attended the same underprivileged and underfunded schools with torn books and battle-weary teachers. I clawed my way into Harvard, and he secured a place at the Naval Academy through a combination of hard work and letters to Senator Wharton that reeked of blackmail. When I started my company, Knox was the first person I hired, because he was the only person I would ever trust.
Knox glared at me through his black hipster glasses both of us knew he didn’t need. At thirty years old, Knox was two years younger than me. With his blond hair and blue eyes, he was the light to my dark, and not just physically. Somehow, Knox made it through our childhood house of horrors and six-plus years of military service without tainting his soul. I hadn’t even seen half the shit he had, and I couldn’t say the same thing about myself.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Knox plopped down into the deep cushioned, camel leather couch that stretched along the back wall of my office.
“More than anything.” I reached into my desk drawer, snagging two Cuban cigars from my rosewood humidor. I clipped the ends of both cigars and held one out to him. “This calls for a celebration, don’t you think?”
“No thanks. You know I can’t stand the things.”
“I know.” I lit my cigar, took a couple puffs, and exhaled two perfect concentric rings.
“Don’t you think you should let the past go?” Knox finally said, his voice low and reflective. “You have millions of dollars in the bank, homes in at least four different cities, you date beautiful women, and you have the best brother in the world.” He chuckled at his attempt at making a joke. “What more could you want?”
As I slid the red and gold paper band off my cigar, I looked back at Senator Wharton’s frozen image on the screen. I hated everything about that man, from his carefully groomed hair to his penchant for Ferragamo loafers, and his trademark fake smile.
Pacing around my desk, I surveyed every detail of the office I considered more of a home than the place I slept at night. Large antique walnut desk. Wood paneled walls. Looped tan carpet. Floor to ceiling windows. My corner office occupied at least five hundred prime square feet of real estate overlooking the Potomac River. I’d come a long way from a run-down trailer in the middle of the desert.
Knox was right. I had more money than I could spend in five lifetimes. I had power, influence, name recognition, and every material thing imaginable at my fingertips, but I hadn’t achieved the one thing that had fueled my desire for success over the last twenty-seven years.
“Revenge. I want revenge,” I pointed at the TV screen, “that ends with the complete and utter destruction of that man and every person in his life.”
“Are you sure you want to do this? It will change everything.”
“I’ve never been more certain of anything in my life.” It was the absolute truth. Every decision in my life had been made with this moment in mind.
Knox sighed and propped his gray chukka clad feet on the circular glass coffee table. “I don’t understand it, but if it’s what you want, I’m all in. I’ll help any way I can.”
